Blend Modes Part 6 | Photoshop Tutorials 101

Overview

The Composite group of blending modes alters either the color or luminosity of the image. These blend modes can correct or add color, saturation, contrast to the overall image, as either a small edit or a large scale recolor.

Hue

The Hue blending mode changes the color by taking the hue of the blend color with the luminescence and saturation of the base.

Saturation

The Saturation blend mode creates a change in color by taking the saturation of the blending color and the luminescence and hue of the base layer on the image.

Color

The Color blending mode takes the hue and saturation of the blend color and the luminescence of the base color. This blend mode preserves the grey levels and is good for coloring monochromatic images as well as tinting color images.

Luminosity

The Luminosity blend mode creates the inverse effect of the Color blending mode by taking the luminescence of the blending color and mixing it with the hue and saturation of the base layer.
