Premiere Pro and Media Encoder Integration | Adobe Bridge Tutorial

With the release of Adobe Bridge version 11.0 in October 2020 Adobe released two new small integrations with Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere Pro. These features allow for users to export video assets within Adobe Bridge into either program seamlessly at the press of a button. In this tutorial I will go through the ins and outs of these new integrations and how to use them effectively.

The Problem

Before, Adobe Bridge did not have much integration with Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere Pro. For example if you wanted to grab a selection of clips and send them into either program in the respective queue or sequence you would need to drag them into the project bin.

The Solution

Now, everything has changed as you have timesaving ways to integrate into Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere Pro.

Encode Within Adobe Media Encoder

Within Adobe Bridge you are now able to send assets directly to Media Encoder for encoding or stitching together.

    1. Select the desired video assets in the order desired. Using Sort Manually (which can be found in the path bar above the Content panel) one can rearrange assets in any particular order.
    2. Next select Tools > Media Encoder > Add to Encoder Queue / Stitch Clips Together to activate the integration.
      1. Add to Encoder Queue: This option just simply adds the selected clips into the queue for individual exports.
      2. Stitch Clips Together: This option adds the clips to the Media Encoder queue with the ability to rearrange said clips before exporting one finished video file.

Edit in Adobe Premiere Pro

Now, within Adobe Bridge you are also now able to send assets directly to Premiere Pro to edit in a sequence.

  1. Select the desired video assets in the order desired. Using Sort Manually (which can be found in the path bar above the Content panel) one can rearrange assets in any particular order.
  2. Next select Tools > Media Encoder > Edit (Create a Sequence) to activate the integration.

Conclusion

Adobe has constantly been iterating on integration within the Creative Suite and this update is no exception. Adobe Bridge seems to be an underutilized piece of software on the surface. However, upon opening it is quickly realized as to why with little advantage over a traditional file browser. With integrations such as these however the value proposition becomes greater and over time if this course is continued I see Bridge becoming an invaluable tool. These new integrations are a welcome addition to Adobe’s Bridge that allows for a more optimal workflow saving time under the right circumstances.
