Thumbnail Scrubbing on Hover | Adobe Bridge Tutorial

With the release of Adobe Bridge version 11.0 in October 2020 Adobe released a new feature labeled Video Thumbnail Preview. This feature allows for users to scrub video within Adobe Bridge using the cursor. In this tutorial I will go through the ins and outs of this new feature and how to use it effectively.

The Problem

Before, if you wanted to preview videos the only real way to do this within Bridge required you to use the preview panel. Another option was to just open the video files within a player like VLC.

The Solution

Now you can preview the videos just by moving the cursor across the video itself. Enabling this feature requires two simple steps.

  1. Go to the menu bar and select Edit > Preferences > Thumbnails

Under the Video section of the Thumbnails menu enable the setting Preview Video on Mouse Hover

Conclusion

Now with this option enabled, you can mouse over the video within the content panel and previews will begin to play. Thumbnail previewing takes priority over Preview panel playback. This new feature is a stellar addition to Adobe’s Bridge that allows for a more optimal workflow saving time and money.
